I honestly didn't finish this novel. Moses is a really nice guy and I've enjoyed interacting with him on the internet, but I just didn't feel this book at all. I didn't enjoy the structure, the God interactions, the characters, or honestly, the writing style. The writing itself was competent and educated, but the format just wasn't for me.
I'd definitely give a shot to more of Moses' work; I don't seem to rate the middle eastern fantasy very highly (highest I've given is 3 stars for any "middle eastern" style fantasy book), but the concept of the different setting, the uniqueness of the middle eastern fantasy is appealing to me. I just didn't enjoy Black God's War nearly as much as I'd hoped to.
